Having left the family at Basel Airport I went on Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Bormio.

The Local area map showed where the giant spiders live.

Everywhere in the Alps the views are stunning.

Due to roadworks and traffic issues a quick pop to Interlaken turned into a 3 hour marathon. This hit my plans to visit Liechtenstein and Austria before going to Northen Italy, so decided to miss Austria.

On the way to Liechtenstein I saw a couple of Hitchhikers looking for a lift, so stopped and told them I would take them to the next Village. They were two Canadian guys hitching across Europe and then planning to go to Japan, all on $5,000 each. Their plan had been to walk to the next village, I dont think so. The next village was only a few kilometres away on the map, but the road was steep and not very direct.

Arrived at Liechtenstein in time for a late lunch and watched the Tourists go by. Drove to the Austrian border, but there was a queue of 4 cars! Decided to head to Bormio instead.

Set the Sat Nav to the Hotel in Bormio, its only 143 kilometres away ( less than 90 miles ). But the Sat Nav says its going to take over 3 hours!

Part of the Journey was via the Vereinatunnel Klosters, Switzerland. A train Ferry under part of the Alps

The rest of the Journey to Bormio was driving heaven. Tight and twisty climbs to the Snow line, down again and climb again. As I was alone I could make 'Spirited' progress. Brakes, tyres, steering, suspension and engine all had a good workout.

Arrived in Bormio in 2 and half hours. After booking into the Hotel and a quick wash, retired to the bar for a quick drink. I think the free snacks were worth more than the drink.

There are both interesting beers and food in Bormio.
