Today left Sottomarina and travelled to Bologna. As Bologna was only a couple of hours away I avoided the Autostrada and took the back roads.

________________________________________________

The Route taken was a bit like driving in Lincolnshire, its flat, agricultural and has many small towns / villages. On the Journey I passed, many what appeared to be, empty / abandoned buildings.

Most of the Fruit appeared to be Pears. But I also saw potatoes, sweet corn and beans.

________________________________________________

A passed a field of Sunflowers, so had to stop and take photos.

________________________________________________

While I was there a Japanese couple appeared ( First of many Chinese / Japanese tourists I would see ). So took their photo for them and got them to sign the car.

________________________________________________

As I arrived early in Bologna, I drove to Santuario Madonna di San Luca ( no way I was doing the walk in the heat )

The Hotel was about 4 miles out of town, the local graffiti was interesting.

________________________________________________

Took the Bus into Bologna. The City was hot, too hot. After a couple of hours trying to keep cool I gave up and took a taxi with air-con back to the Hotel.

After the suffering in the heat, my plan to head south and tour down to Naples was scrapped. There was a heatwave and it was getting hotter. Decided to stick to the northern Mediterranean coast from now on.
